Training on “Prevention and Screening of Cervical Cancer”

24.05-29.05. In 2021, in Dushanbe, the Tajik Family Planning Association, with financial support from UNFPA conducted two three-day trainings on "Prevention and Screening of Cervical Cancer". 40 doctors of reproductive health centers and 16 heads of city reproductive health centers attended the training.
The aim of the the training was to provide information on the following topics:
  • Epidemiology and risk factors for cervical cancer.
  • Anatomy and physiology of the vulva, vagina and cervix.
  • Benign and precancerous diseases of the cervix.
  • Principles of cervical cancer prevention, screening methods.
  • Principles of counseling: before, during, and after visual screening.
  • Visual screening methodology (with VIA and VILI samples).
Conducting the practical part and analyzing clinical cases. On the 1st day, a pre-test was conducted for the participants, where the average score in the group 1 was 57.2%, in the group 2 - 59.7%. During the training, presentations and group work were carried out; 87 patients were examined, each case was discussed, and recommendations were given to patients for further actions. At the end of the trainings, the participants were tested, and the average score of correct answers was 84.1% in group 1, and 89.2% in group 2. The participants were presented with certificates.
