Session on: “Public speaking.”

On July 27, 2018, was held session on "Public speaking". At the session, TFPA volunteers learned what public speech is, and that good performance takes a lot of time to prepare. The great writer Mark Twain used to say: “It usually takes more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech”.
Public speaking is the process or act of performing a speech to a live audience with some purpose. The main task of the speaker is to attract attention. This task is carried out through certain factors, such as: 1) Appearance, 2) A successful start 3) Gestures, posture, facial expressions, 4) Tone, words, reaction. Then, volunteers learned the advice of many speakers to improve their public speech, such as:
  1. Use every opportunity to speak publicly.
  2. Do not neglect careful preparation even if you are smart.
  3. Be sure to rehearse.
  4. Before the performance, several times come to the audience.
  5. Never write a speech for performance.
  6. Move during the performance.
  7. During the performance, constantly maintain eye contact with the entire audience.
  8. Attract attention of your audience and involve them.
  9. Answering a question, address to all listeners, and not just to the one who asked it. Answer extremely briefly and in fact.
  10. Follow the regulations.
At the end of the session, volunteers watched videos of such famous speakers as Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs and others.
