The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tajikistan and the Tajik Family Planning Association, in cooperation with the Committee on Religious Affairs, Regulation of National Traditions, Celebrations and Rituals under the Government of Tajikistan, held an interactive session for 50 students of the Tajik State Islamic Institute. Session was dedicated to the Gender-Based Violence, in the framework of the Project - Central Asia and the UK government Conflict Prevention, promoting stability and security - “Strengthening National Capacities to Improve the Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Central Asia”.
The main goal of this initiative was to raise awareness among participants about women's rights in society and gender equality, as well as about religious role in the prevention of domestic violence, cause informing the clergy about combating gender-based violence - one of the best ways to reduce gender-based violence. Also, during this session the participants received information materials on gender-based violence, reproductive health, organization and prevention and fight against HIV and STIs.
During the interactive part of the event, students took part in a quiz regarding gender-based violence, healthy lifestyle, HIV and STIs, etc. The winners of competition received motivational prizes from the event organizers.
